Exton, Pennsylvania — The Mommy’s Light Race for Traditions Benefiting Bereaved Children 7th Annual 5K & 1 Mile Race, sponsored by Kensey Nash Corporation, Comcast Corporation and Swain Tours, will be held on Saturday, April 30. The race, which benefits Mommy’s Light Lives On Fund® will be at the Eagleview Corporate Center in Exton, PA.
Mommy’s Light’s mission is to bring joy and comfort to children and teens whose mothers are terminally ill or have died by helping them keep alive traditions and simple pleasures they shared with their mothers. The organization has fulfilled more than 700 traditions for more than 200 maternally bereaved children and provided education materials to more than 37,000 school counselors. For more information, registration forms and a detailed schedule of the day’s events, call 610-458-1690 or visit www.mommyslight.org.
“Seven years ago the Mommy’s Light Race for Traditions was started by Downingtown resident Hillary DeLone, mother of three young children, just after recovering from breast cancer,” says Laura Munts, President of the Mommy’s Light Board of Directors. “Her powerful commitment to help all children and teens whose mothers have died keeps building, with many business, community, school and family leaders joining the team.”
“Our annual race has become a Chester County community and family tradition,” says Joan Jackwood, Co-Executive Director of Mommy’s Light. “From the Tot Trot to the 5K, the dog agility show by Dillon to the Schafer Sound DJ, there truly is something for everyone!” Other festivities include a free children’s concert by Makin’ Music, an appearance by Jennaphr Frederick from Fox 29 News as Race Marshal, free ice cream for the kids, and a complimentary hot breakfast buffet provided by the Brickside Grille for registered race participants.
Registration opens at 7:45am. The 5K Race will begin at 9:00am. At 9:04am the 1 Mile Race will start, with a special “Stroller Start” at 9:06am. The Tot Trot for kids ages 2 to 5 years old will get under way at approximately 9:50am.
