Balance Hair Spa stylists perform services on major fashion magazine editors for ColorProof
/On Tuesday, April 1, Trisa McAveney, Christopher McCully Darring, Holly Prowant and Keyana Cellucci from Balance Hair Spa perform hair and makeup on editors of all the major fashion magazines.
They were choosen to represent ColorProof, a line we carry at our salons, and help launch new products with a styling event in New York City. Our 4 stylists worked along side ColorProof CEO and founder Jim Markham and Phillip Wilson, one of the world's biggest and most published hair stylists.

Shear Genius star Nicole Obert teaches our team some new trends from Wella
/On Monday, January 27, 2014, famed stylist Nicole Obert from Bravo's Shear Genius came to Balance Hair Spa to teach our team some new trends for Wella Professional.
She spent time going over the newest collections and competitions for this years Trend Vision (Wella's annual color competion). She also spent time teaching us some new cuts including cuts with straight razors.
We can't wait to have her back again in a few months for an updo class.
We are collecting for TOY FOR TOTS again this year.
/Stop in and drop off new unwrapped toys for our annual TOYS FOR TOTS collection drive. We will be collecting toys until December 6th. Help us beat our goal of four full boxes this year.

/We are so proud to announce that on Monday November 4th, our stylists Annie McFetridge, Keyana Cellucci, Hope Carrigan, & Holly Prowant have all been certified in the Deva Haircut. Balance Hair Spa now features 9 stylists who are trained in this highly customized cut that is exclusive to those who embrace their culry hair.

/On September 15th, Our stylists Bud, Annie, & Trisa attended Locked & Loaded with North American Hairstyling Award winner Eli Mancha and Barbering whiz Brandon Cash. This full day class covered all the latest trends in Mens cutting and barbering. Today's man is a unique individual who requires unique messures and techniques that are redifining the men's grooming world. Eli and Brandon showed them the tricks of the trade that have helped mold and create the current trends in this young, fresh men's market.
Balance Hair Spa Studio opens in West Chester
/On Thursday September 5th we celebrated the opening of our new Studio location at 150 E. Gay St. in West Chester PA. Our open house featured models with hair styling by our entire staff and clothes from Tish boutique. The block party out front made for an excellent backfrop for our open house with entertainment and food from local artists and vendors.
Holly Prowant gets Certified with Paul Mitchell

From August 17th to the 22nd, Our Designer, Holly Prowant attended and passed the Paul Mitchell cutting certification classes in Costa Mesa California. This is Holly's third certification with John Paul Mitchell systems, a highly advanced cutting system that is hard to complete. These classes focused on creative female cutting and new men's grooming. We congratulate Holly on her road to success.
Global Hairdresser of the Year, Phillip Wilson visits Balance Hair Spa.
/Today our team of hair designers were treated to a cutting workshop by the International Creative Director of Colorproof Evolved Color Care, Phillip Wilson.
Phillip Wilson launched his career as a hairdresser in the trendy west end of London training with grand masters from all over Europe. Since emigrating to the United States, Wilson has become a global Industry icon.

This was Phillip's second visit to our salon in only 7 months, the only salon he choose to visit twice. It was an honor to have such a talented artist sharing his knowledge. TWO OF OUR HAIR SPECIALISTS ATTEND SPRING TRENDS WORKSHOP AT HOPE FOR BEAUTY.
/On Monday April 29th Megan and Annie were honored to do a Spring Trends hands on training with Teri Dougherty, Modern Salon Magazine - 2008 Colorist of the Year. This workshop featured new trends for this spring with influences right off the fashion runways. These new trends include new color blocking techniques for soft dimensional color and block cutting to make a long layered contemporary bob. Megan describes these new trends as “soft tone color patterns with less bold color contrast”. Next time you’re in the salon ask Annie or Megan to share their experience with you.
Balance Hair Spa team attend International Beauty Show in NYC
/Last weekend 10 members of the Balance Hair Spa team attended the International Beauty Show in New York City. This is the largest independent beauty show on the East Coast featuring thousands of hair and skin care companies from all over the world. We were able to see all the latest trends from Europe and beyond. We can't wait to share our experience with our clients along with new products coming soon.
Balance Hair Spa Welcomes Christopher Darring as guest Executive Designer.
/We are proud to announce the newest member of our team. Christopher Darring is now a Guest Executive Designer at Balance Hair Spa.
Christopher comes to us from the HOPE for Beauty education center at Tru Beauty Concepts, Where he is the Education Director. His work at HOPE has allowed him to train with some of the industry's most talented stylists including Martin Parsons, Beth Minardi, Tabatha Coffey, & Charlie Price. He has received extensive training on many of the major professional lines of products and is certified in Hotheads Extensions.
Christopher McCully was born with a passion for hair! Growing up in the first state with an artistic family, he was introduced to art and music at a young age. He knew he was bound to do something creative.
After struggling to find his calling, Christopher felt even more compelled to do something he loved. Not only did he find love, but a passion to help others grow within our industry. Building a career as a stylist, he’s been able excel in the arts of dressing, manipulating and folding fabric. He has been able to build great relationships with fellow hair stylist alike and has worked with sought after Hairstylist. While residing in Philadelphia, he’s taken on the roll as HOPE Director of Education. Before moving to Philadelphia, Christopher was a successful session stylist in Delaware. Now facilitating education at HOPE for beauty he’s able to embrace his calling and help other stylist skyrocket within the industry.

This April, help us support our community by supporting Mommy's Light
/For the past five years, we have proudly supported Mommy's Light, a children's charity that is near and dear to our hearts. This wonderful organization helps bereaved children who have lost their mothers by continuing cherished family traditions and providing bereavement support. The annual Mommy's Light 5K & 1 Mile Fun Race is one of the charity's largest events.
How can you help?
1. At your next appointment, purchase a "Heart for Mommy" for as little as a $1 donation. Fill out your card "In Honor of" a family member, friend or loved one, or "In Memory of" a special person who has passed. We will display all of the cards in our salon. Please help us reach our goal of 100 Hearts for Mommy cards!
2. Join us for the 9th Annual Mommy's Light 5K & 1 Mile Race on Saturday, April 27 (rain or shine), in Eagleview Town Center, 540 Wellington Square, Exton 19341. Bring your whole family to this family fitness and fun event with music, dog tricks, a Brickside Grille hot breakfast for registered race participants, and many goodies donated by our food sponsors. In addition to the 5K Run/Walk, there is a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, a Stroller Start, and the Tot Trot (ages 2-5) at 9:50am, Last year, there were over 700 participants! Trisa, Domenick, & Keyana train with legendary stylist Charlie Price!!
/We are so excited to announce that 3 of our team of artists have taken 2 full days of training with Charlie Price focused on styling for photo shoots.
Price was named International Stylist of the Year in 2007 and has been nominated for sixteen NAHA awards including Master Stylist of the Year in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He was twice named North American Hairstylist of the Year in 2002 and 2008, the only American to do so. In 2011 he was named NAHA People's Choice North American Hairstylist of the Year - the first year the award was given. Price has had his photo work published in trade and consumer magazines and also made a memorable appearance as runner-up on Bravo's hit television series about hairstylists called Shear Genius 2 which aired in over 22 countries.
