Balance Hair Spa Team Attend Fashion Focus in Baltimore.

Fashion Focus is an industry trade show brought to us by CosmoProf. Our team took the time to sit in on class rooms and workshops this weekend, all designed to further their career and talent in the beauty industry. We were able to get some positive motivation by Geno Stampora, Formal styling techniques from Martin Parsons, and cutting techniques by Nick Arrojo. After the weekend we all returned to our work more energized and ready to share our experience and knowledge with our clients. We always enjoy this show and also enjoy seeing old friends we have met along the way.

On Sunday, August 17, the staff of Balance Hair Spa attended an event at the Metro Beauty School in Allentown, Pennsylvania, featuring the world-famous hair team, The Doves.

The Doves are a dynamic duo comprised of Christopher and Sonya Dove, who are widely recognized as the industry's most sought-after stylists. Their styling expertise embodies their trademark cutting-edge designs and trend-setting looks. Their hair creations have been featured in leading hair and fashion magazines, including Vogue.

They showcased many different color, cutting, and styling techniques at this intimate event. They are the featured stylists for Wella Professional Haircare, the same line we use at our Balance Hair Spa locations.

On Sunday, April 13 and Monday, April 14, the Balance Hair Spa team traveled to the Fashion Focus 2014 Hair Show in Baltimore, Maryland. We attended multiple seminars to help us grow as beauty professionals. Here are a few highlights.

Shear Genius star Nicole Obert teaches our team some new trends from Wella

On Monday, January 27, 2014, famed stylist Nicole Obert from Bravo's Shear Genius came to Balance Hair Spa to teach our team some new trends for Wella Professional.

She spent time going over the newest collections and competitions for this years Trend Vision (Wella's annual color competion). She also spent time teaching us some new cuts including cuts with straight razors. 

We can't wait to have her back again in a few months for an updo class. 

4 more Balance Hair Spa stylists certified in the Deva Haircut for curly hair.

We are so proud to announce that on Monday November 4th, our stylists Annie McFetridge, Keyana Cellucci, Hope Carrigan, & Holly Prowant have all been certified in the Deva Haircut. Balance Hair Spa now features 9 stylists who are trained in this highly customized cut that is exclusive to those who embrace their culry hair.

From August 17th to the 22nd, Our Designer, Holly Prowant attended and passed the Paul Mitchell cutting certification classes in Costa Mesa California. This is Holly's third certification with John Paul Mitchell systems, a highly advanced cutting system that is hard to complete. These classes focused on creative female cutting and new men's grooming.  We congratulate Holly on her road to success. 

Global Hairdresser of the Year, Phillip Wilson visits Balance Hair Spa.

Today our team of hair designers were treated to a cutting workshop by the International Creative Director of Colorproof Evolved Color Care, Phillip Wilson.

Phillip Wilson launched his career as a hairdresser in the trendy west end of London training with grand masters from all over Europe. Since emigrating to the United States, Wilson has become a global Industry icon. 

Phillip’s resume is long and varied, including experience as an elite salon owner, creative director, platform artist and the artistic consultant for some of the most notable names in the Industry. Voted one of the most influential hairdressers of the past 100 years by Modern Salon magazine, he remains one of the most published editorial hairstylists in the world. Wilson is recognized for his extraordinary talent, creative passion, and boundless energy.

This was Phillip's second visit to our salon in only 7 months, the only salon he choose to visit twice. It was an honor to have such a talented artist sharing his knowledge. He reminded us that we are the last raw form of artists on the planet. No other artist creates a masterpiece every hour on the hour.

TWO OF OUR HAIR SPECIALISTS ATTEND SPRING TRENDS WORKSHOP AT HOPE FOR BEAUTY.

On Monday April 29th Megan and Annie were honored to do a Spring Trends hands on training with Teri Dougherty, Modern Salon Magazine - 2008 Colorist of the Year. This workshop featured new trends for this spring with influences right off the fashion runways. These new trends include new color blocking techniques for soft dimensional color and block cutting to make a long layered contemporary bob.  Megan describes these new trends as “soft tone color patterns with less bold color contrast”. Next time you’re in the salon ask Annie or Megan to share their experience with you.

   After spending Sunday night meeting Wilson at the Hope For Beauty, we were so excited to see that he had taken time out of his very busy schedule to stop into our salon before continuing his never ending tour. Continuing our education with a Paul Mitchell Creative Color Class

In keeping with our promise to deliver expert fashion-forward color, today the Balance salon team completed a Creative Color Class with national educators from Paul Mitchell.  We studied the latest color techniques for today’s looks, along with a new way to approach color for guests looking for subtle changes.
